AIR
FORCE SERVICES
Air
Force Services is the heart and soul of the military community
on each Air Force installation. The programs and services
we provide are essential to members and their families and
are a vital part of both the sense of community on our bases
and the Air Force culture. They further military traditions
and institutional values, encourage positive individual behavior,
and give Air Force people a sense of belonging. Our programs
are the number one morale tool of commanders, and they aid
in recruiting and retaining high quality personnel. Our goal
is simple - make Air Force life the best way of life so that
people are "eager to enter and reluctant to leave."
Specifically, Services objectives are:
Provide organic deployable combat support to war fighting
commanders
Support military readiness through physical fitness
Support individual and institutional unit cohesion
and camaraderie
Promote individual growth and development
Support family well-being and quality of life
Support the economic viability of Air Force members
and families
To achieve our objectives, Air Force Services personnel, active
duty, reserve, guard and civilian alike, perform two missions:
Combat Support and Community Service. These missions support
the Air Force core competency of Agile Combat Support by maintaining
a deployment capability while providing quality of life programs
for our members and their families on a daily basis. Although
very different in execution, these missions are bound to each
other. The professional Services personnel who deploy to provide
food service, fitness and recreation programs, lodging and
mortuary affairs assistance to the forward force also have
a vital role at their home base. There, they develop and operate
the full range of Services programs for Air Force members
and their families.
